CSU’s Master Plan for Decarbonization

Electrification, Existing Buildings

In the midst of simultaneous mitigation and adaptation to climate change impacts, the California State University, the largest public university system in the country, has developed a Building Decarbonization Framework. These series of documents is one of many tools that will be leveraged to guide its 23 campuses to meet their carbon neutrality goals through an offset-free electrification strategy. This technical roadmap covers policy, design and Title 24 modeling guidelines, available technology, opportunities for heat recovery chiller integration, as well as a tool to gauge economic viability of a project. Listen to Rachel Wong (CSU), Andrew Meiman (Arc Alternatives), and Brian Stern (Glumac) as they chat through the components of the framework and plans for implementation.
