Scaling Decarbonization with Thermal Energy Networks was originally published and presented for the ACEEE Summer Study in August 2026. The paper examines the conditions under which TENs can deliver meaningful reductions in peak electric demand and lifecycle utility costs, while simultaneously enabling managed retirement of gas infrastructure.
