Statement from the Building Decarbonization Coalition on Governor Hochul’s Climate Week announcement
Albany, N.Y. (September 22, 2026) — Allison Considine, New York Director for the Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC), provided the following statement in response to Governor Hochul’s Climate Week announcement:
“The Building Decarbonization Coalition celebrates the funding included in Governor Hochul’s Climate Week announcement that will advance neighborhood-scale building electrification. Investing $150 million of the Sustainable Future Fund into thermal energy networks will help us scale this technology across the state, making our buildings healthier and more comfortable and energy bills more affordable. We’re also thrilled to see $150 million allocated to the EmPower+ program and $150 million for the Affordable Green Transition for Housing, ensuring we continue to support low- and moderate-income New Yorkers’ access to energy-efficient upgrades and electrification solutions.
Governor Hochul’s historic $1 billion investment in the Sustainable Future Program shows her commitment to building a clean and affordable New York. We look forward to continued collaboration with Governor Hochul and the Legislature to build on this progress.”
