STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO GOVERNOR HOCHUL’S SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FUND ANNOUNCEMENT

ALBANY, N.Y. September 24, 2025 Lisa Dix, New York Director for the Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC), provided the following statement in response to Governor Hochul’s Climate Week announcement allocating the $1 billion Sustainable Future Fund:

“The Building Decarbonization Coalition applauds Governor Hochul’s leadership in advancing $200 million for Thermal Energy Networks (TENs) that will pioneer projects at the University at Buffalo, SUNY Purchase, and Stony Brook University, reducing emissions and lowering energy costs. We’re also pleased to see $150 million to support weatherization and heat pump programs, and $50 million to continue supporting the successful EmPower+ program to support low and middle-income New Yorkers with energy efficiency and electrification projects.

New York’s $1 billion Sustainable Future Fund is an essential step toward building a healthier, more equitable, and climate-resilient future and reflects New York’s continued national leadership to lower energy costs for families and create thousands of good-paying jobs. We thank Governor Hochul for doubling down in her commitment to deliver clean energy, clean air, and good jobs to New Yorkers.”
