A coal plant's planned closure sparks investment in a thermal energy network with a unique ownership and business model
Driven by economic resilience, local leaders chose to redevelop a greenfield into a new business park, heated and cooled by a thermal energy network (TEN). The TEN was the best choice to provide reliable, affordable heating and cooling in a cold climate at prices lower than natural gas, and the Town of Hayden will develop a new municipal utility to deliver thermal energy to the buildings in the park.
